The Lady Elks have struggled all season to get their first win. On Wednesday night, the tides finally turned as Elkin was able to hang on to take its first victory of the season. The Lady Elks hosted North Stokes in a game that was low scoring, but the heat was off the charts. Elkin was able to take a 37-31 win over the Vikings to move to 1-8 overall.

The first quarter saw both teams come out firing as Elkin would score, and North Stokes would answer back. Chloe Osborne got things started for the Lady Elks as she made her way to the basket for a two-point layup. North Stokes tied the game on its next drive down the court, and the game was off to a running start.

Elkin decided that it would beef up its defense in the second quarter, and it did just that. The Lady Elks held the Vikings to zero points while they went on a nine-point scoring run. Osborne, Kyley Cook and Jennings put up points for the Lady Elks. Jennings capped off the quarter by making a two-point basket then a three-point basket to give Elkin an 18-9 lead going into halftime.
