Jerry Sidden will be telling about the Gideons work at Garden Creek Baptist Church at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Campers in the park are invited to come as they are.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Why Not Tonight” by Susan Mallery, “The Christmas Prayer” by Wanda Brunstetter, “Depth of Winter” by Craig Johnson, “Field of Bones” by J.A. Jance, “Complete Wellness” by Neal’s Yard Remedies, “Killing the SS” by Bill O’Reilly, and “Run for Your Life” by Mark Cucuzzela.

The Traphill Fire Department will host the annual Trail of Treats on Oct. 31. This will take place around the track at the main station. They would like to extend an invitation to any churches or businesses who maybe interested in setting up a table at the event. This is for all the children come out for a trail of candy and fun.

The Traphill Fire Department will be hosting its first Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are looking for vendors for the event. Inside spots cost $25 and outside spots cost $15. One table will be provided and you may bring one table. Only one direct sales representative per company so the first to sign up gets the spot. Spots must be paid by Oct. 29 and is non-refundable. The Traphill Fire Department will have a Christmas raffle to be drawn on Nov. 17. First prize is a basket of gift cards from local businesses ($300 value), second prize is a Ruger 10-22 or a $200 gift certificate to Elk Outdoors (winner’s choice) and third prize of a $100 gas card. You do not have to be present to win. See any fireman for tickets.

Congratulations to the Traphill Fire Department for receiving a FEMA SAFER grant that will fund training and having someone available at the fire department Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 for the next four years beginning in November. This will be at no cost to the taxpayers.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Matt and Betty Daye, who celebrate their 37th anniversary on Sept. 26; Mary and Jimmy Ray Hutchinson, who celebrate their 57th anniversary on Sept. 29; and Jerry and Evelyn Sidden, who celebrate their 58th anniversary on Sept. 30.

Traphill had a low temperature of 63.5 degrees on Sept. 19 and a high temperature of 85.4 degrees on Sept. 22. There was 4 inches of rain during the week of Sept. 17-23.
