Larry Norman will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Campers in the park are invited to come as they are.

The White Rock United Methodist Church in Thurmond will have Port-A-Pit BBQ on June 23, beginning at 10 a.m. Plates will be $9 and chicken halves will be $6.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Lbrary include “The Promise of Dawn” by Lauraine Snelling, “The Punishment She Deserves” by Elizabeth George, “Red Alert: An NYPD Mystery” by James Patterson, “The Rising Seas, a Novel from the NUMA files” by Live Cussler, and “The Road Home” by Beverly Lewis.

Summer Reading Program is now under way at the Traphill Branch Library. This year’s theme is Libraries Rock and there are some great programs planned for the summer. On Thursday, bring a white or light colored T-shirt and tie-dye it at 11 a.m.

There was a great turnout at the Eller reunion (Maxine Johnson’s family) in Purlear last Sunday with 91 family members attending.

Get well wishes go to Judy DePree, who was in the hospital last week.

Condolences go to the family of Charlie Gambill, who died on June 8.

Wesley Bowers helped the pit crew of the winning car at Friendship Speedway last Saturday night. The winning driver was Ronald Rhoades.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Sasha and David Murphy, who celebrate their seventh anniversary on June 11; Max and Janice Eller, who celebrate their 48th anniversary on June 12; Carol and Mary Harris, who celebrate their 52nd anniversary on June 13; Jesse and Dale Kennedy, who celebrate their 49th anniversary on June 15; and Sydney and Bobby Gambill, who celebrate their 50th anniversary on June 15.

Traphill had a low temperature of 60.2 degrees on June 6 and a high temperature of 85.4 degrees on June 9. There was only a sprinkle of rain during the week of June 4-10.
