Wayne Overcash will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m.

Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church will switch their regular Wednesday night services to Thursdays during the month of September with other local pastors bringing the message. On Sept. 14, James Pardue from Old Roaring River Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. On Sept. 21, David Spicer from Austin Baptist Church will be there. Pastor Danny Royal invites everyone to worship with them.

New books available to check out at Traphill Branch Library include “The Mermaid” by Jan Brett, “Murder Games” by James Patterson & Howard Roughan, “Pete the Cat and the Lost Tooth” by James Dean, “The Proving” by Beverly Lewis, “The Right Time” by Danielle Steel, “Robert B. Parker’s the Hangman’s Sonnet” by Reed Farrel Coleman, “The Summer That Made Us” by Robyn Carr, and “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me: A Memoir” by Sherman Alexie.

The Stone Mountain State Park will have its annual Old Fashion Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be lots of old-fashioned crafts demonstrated and the Crabgrass Band will be singing at 1 p.m.

Get well wishes go to Carl Caudill, who was in the hospital last week. He’s beginning to feel better.

Traphill had a low temperature of 48.9 degrees on Sept. 8 and a high temperature of 82 degrees on Sept. 5. There was 1.5 inches ot rain during the week of Sept. 4-10.
