Derick Barker will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m.

Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church will switch its regular Wednesday night services to Thursdays during the month of September with other local pastors bringing the message. On Sept. 7, Keith Blankley of Shoaley Branch Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. On Sept. 14, James Pardue from Old Roaring River Baptist Church will be there. Pastor Danny Royal invites everyone to worship with them.

New books available to check out at Traphill Branch Library include “Drop-Dead Easy Knits” by Gale Zucker, Mary Lou Egan and Kirsten Kapur, “Exposed: A Rosato & Dinunzio Novel” by Lisa Scottoline, “Haunted” by James Patterson and James O Born, “I Survived the American Revolution, 1776” by Lauren Tarshis, and “Laugh Out Loud” by James Patterson, Chris Grabenstein and Jeffrey Ebbeler.

The Stone Mountain State Park will have its annual Old Fashion Day on Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be lots of old-fashioned crafts demonstrated and the Crabgrass Band will be singing at 1 p.m.

Traphill had a low temperature of 57.9 degrees on Sept. 3 and a high temperature of 80.7 degrees on Aug. 30. There was 2 inches of rain during the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3.
