Adam Collins will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m. East Elkin Baptist Church choir will be singing.

Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church will switch its regular Wednesday night services to Thursdays during the month of September with other local pastors bringing the message. On Sept. 7, Keith Blankley of Shoaley Branch Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. Pastor Danny Royal invites everyone to worship with them.

New books available to check out at Traphill Branch Library include “The Beloved Christmas Quilt: Three Stories of Family, Romance, and Amish Faith” by Wanda E Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter, & Richelle Brunstetter, “Bringing Maggie Home” by Kim Vogel Sawyer, “Chasing Secrets” by Lynette Eason, “Cherished Mercy” by Tracie Peterson, and “Deadfall” by Linda Fairstein.

The Stone Mountain State Park will have its annual Old Fashion Day on Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be lots of old-fashioned crafts demonstrated and the Crabgrass Band will be singing at 1 p.m.

Traphill had a low temperature of 64.2 degrees on Aug. 25 and a high temperature of 87.8 degrees on Aug. 22. There was no rain during the week of Aug. 21-27.
