JONESVILLE — Library Program Assistant Jennifer Rogers of the Jonesville Public Library announced this afternoon that Branch Librarian Barbara Gilpin died Friday morning.

The announcement was made via the Jonesville Public Library’s Facebook page, saying in part, that the “library family is deeply hurt by the news.”

“Barbara was truly one of a kind. Her sweet smile would brighten any room she walked in. Her brilliant mind was filled with so much information it would make my head spin. Her heart was pure love for this library, the books, and most importantly, the patrons that visit here,” said Rogers in the Facebook post.

“I ask that you keep her family and friends in your thoughts over the next coming weeks. I can honestly say, every patron had a special place in her heart,” the post concluded.

The library was closed today for a staff development program and will remain so the remainder of the day. Rogers said she will post details of the funeral arrangements on the library’s Facebook page when they become available.
