Explore Elkin invites community members to return to the conversation started last spring as they gear up for year two.

The second annual Community Gathering will take place on March 29 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Coley Hall at The Liberty.

Sam Tayloe of Time Sawyer will lead a group of other local musicians as local residents gather over heavy hors d’eouvres provided by Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Chick-fil-A.

Although the evening is free, there will be a cash bar.

After the entertainment, Explore Elkin Chairman Jeff Eidson is expected to present a brief update on Explore Elkin including information on becoming an Elkin Explorer and the discounts available through the Explorer program.

“Our sincere thanks to the Elkin Explorer group, our sponsors and everyone who has supported Explore Elkin with your financial contributions, your ideas, and your participation in our many events,” said Eidson in a letter of invitation.

“Please bring a friend and join the conversation as we develop a shared vision of the future for our town.”

That vision will be presented by Crystal Morphis, CEO and founder of Creative Economic Development Consulting, in the form of a strategic plan.

Created in partnership with the town of Elkin and the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, the plan is expected to outline a future of beatification projects as well as economic incentives.

“Explore Elkin had a busy and productive year in 2017 with many events and initiatives,” said Eidson, “and we are planning an even more robust year in 2018.”
