The season for lights, greenery, snowmen and Santa Clauses has arrived, and The Tribune has found a way to encourage businesses in the Yadkin Valley to go all out for the holidays.

The Tribune is sponsoring a Business Window Decorating Contest online and in the office at 214 E. Main St., Elkin. Area businesses are asked to take photos of their decorating storefronts and submit them on the website, http://elkintribune.secondstreetapp.com/Business-Window-Decorating-Contest/, between now and Nov. 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pictures also can be brought by the office where they will be scanned and entered online, as well as displayed in The Tribune office.

Then Tribune readers will be able to vote once a day online or in the The Tribune office for their favorite decorated storefront. Voting will take place from Dec. 1 at 12 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 10.

The winning business will be the winner of a free color quarter page ad in The Tribune.

Also, each person registering as a voter will be entered in a drawing for a free six-month subscription to The Tribune if living in a home-delivery area. All those voting on Dec. 5 will be entered twice in the drawing for the subscription.

“The holidays are a time for lights and festivities and enjoying the sights of Christmas trees, stars, strings of lights, snowmen and Santas, and all things holiday related,” said Tribune Editor Wendy Wood. “We eagerly decorated our storefront windows and lobby area a couple of days before Thanksgiving, and we look forward to seeing all of the creative holiday decorations other businesses come up with.”
