ELKIN - After Thursday’s statement win over Wilkes Central, the Buckin’ Elks have positioned themselves to capture the program’s first Mountain Valley Conference title in 15 years.

Elkin, now 13-0 after topping the Eagles and East Wilkes on back-to-back nights last week, return to the court Tuesday night against Ashe County with the chance to bring home the conference crown.

The Elks edged the Huskies 59-48 in their first meeting in January.

Elkin then returns home Friday night for its final two games of the regular season - Friday against Forbush and Tuesday against West Wilkes on Senior Night.

The Lady Elks, coming off Thursday’s big win over powerhouse Wilkes Central, return to action Tuesday looking to stay alive in the conference race.

Elkin improved to 2-11 with the win, but still remains at the bottom of the league standings and sits in danger of missing the conference tournament.

The Lady Elks can punch their ticket to the tourney with wins in their final three games, beginning Tuesday against Ashe County. The Huskies escaped with a win in the teams’ first meeting.

Elkin then hosts Forbush Friday night. The Falcons knocked off the Elks 55-41 January 8.
