A mobile home fire early Wednesday morning in Boonville claimed the life of a local woman.

Sarah Studard, 39, of Freedom Drive, was found dead in the home after firefighters extinguished the flames.

Emergency responders also found her pet dog’s remains in the home.

The cause of the fire has not been released, and the cause of death is pending.

“We don’t know the cause. We’re still waiting on the autopsy reports,” said Lt. Phil Hamby of the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Department. “We got the call at 2:08 a.m. Other than the fire, there were no other evidence of injury,” Hamby added.
