All-Star week has come, and kicking off the week's festivities is the home run derby, which will take place tonight. Judging from the roster, this year's lineup looks weak. The National League will feature Dimondbacks' outfielder Chris Young, Brewers outfielder Cory Hart, Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday, and Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramierez.

Slugging for the American League are Tiger's first baseman, Miguel Cabrera, Red Sox designated hitter, David Ortiz, Blue Jays outfielder, Vernon Wells, and Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher.

The roster is set with only three players at or above a .300 batting average. The automatic favorite has to be Miguel Cabrera, who currently has 22 home runs and a batting average of .346.

What's really interesting about the derby's field is the lack of "super sluggers". In the National League, the Cincinnati Reds have both Joey Votto, who is currently sitting at 22 home runs and .314 batting average, and Scott Rolen, who has a .292 batting average and 17 bombs blasted out of the park. And those are just two All-Stars who have better home run/hitting stats than over half of the roster for the derby.

Last year, Prince Fielder won the derby with six home runs being crushed in the last round. Fielder bested the likes of heavy hitters Ryan Howard and Alber Pujols.

The lackluster roster of this year's derby will definitely be interesting. The derby is meant to be a fun, relaxed exhibition for the players to showcase their home run slugging abilities, and this year, some of the heavy hitters will be watching from the stands.

With any luck, the actual All-Star game will hopefully provide more exciting "All-Star" moments than the derby will provide this year.
