Ferguson, 82, is known as the “Master of the Appalachian Foothill Blues.” The career musician, a Wilkes County native, returns to the Yadkin Valley this weekend to share the unique brand of music that this region inspired.
The music will not be the only thing native to the area. This week’s featured winery, Carolina Heritage, will be showcasing a variety of Yadkin Valley wines.
Saturday night’s downtown festival is themed “Arts and Crafts” weekend. The event will be hosted by the Yadkin Valley Craft Guild.
Judy Buckner, member of the YVCG board of directors, said that the YVCG Craft Shop, located at 122 West Main Street in downtown Elkin, will open its doors during Saturday night’s festival. Artists who are members of the YVCG will also be featuring their exhibits downtown.
In addition to the arts and entertainment, downtown restaurants will be open and food stands will line Main Street. Proceeds from these vendors will benefit the restoration of Historic Reeves Theater.
The festival, scheduled from 7-11 p.m., June 19, promises to deliver the best of Yadkin Valley culture.
