This Saturday, downtown will fill with the rumble of cars for the Mayberry Cool Cars & Rods cruise-in that is sponsored by the Mount Airy Downtown Business Association and Mayberry Cruisers.

The cruise-in will begin at 3 p.m. and the band Due South will be playing starting at 4 p.m. Franklin Street.

According to Claudia Sowers with the DBA, the cruise-ins will be the fourth Saturday of each month excluding September and will go on until October.

She said the cruise-ins, which used to be held at the Surry County Human Services building, had to be moved, so the organizations decided to have the cruise-ins downtown.

“We had a great turn out last month and are hoping for a even bigger turn out this month,” Sowers said.

Sowers said downtown restaurants will be open late that night.

There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes for cruisers. The drawings will be held at 7:30 p.m.
