Openings remain for upcoming after school program at FAC

The Foothill Arts Council continues to offer its After School Arts Program.

The purpose of the after school arts program is to stimulate the imagination, to encourage creativity, and to gain confidence while having fun experiencing the arts. The charge for each class will be $40 for a six-week session. Money will not be prorated for missed classes. Limited scholarships are available please call for information. Session 5- April 19th-May 28th. Call 835-2025 to register for classes.

Mondays

Clay Projects with Rob Marsh

For kindergarten and up. Time 3-4 p.m. at Clayworks Studio in Elkin. Come play in the mud and create art. This will be a four week session. Space is limited to eight students.

Tuesdays

Art Exploration with Jane Spencer

• 2:30-3:30 p.m. for kids in kindergarten through third grade at Elkin Elementary. Explore your creativity through drawing, painting and mixed media. Space is limited to eight students.

Origami with Sharon Whitman 

• 2:30-3:30 p.m. for third through sixth grade at Elkin Elementary. Come learn the beautiful ancient art of Japanese paper folding. Space is limited to six students.

Acting Out! with Leighanne Wright

• 2:30-3:30 p.m. for second through sixth grade at Elkin Elementary. Play drama games and work on an original skit, “Pirates of the Scary Bean.” Performance on last day, students will need to memorize lines. A minimum of 10 students needed.

Wednesdays

Art Exploration with Jane Spencer

• 3:15-4:15 p.m. for kids in kindergarten through seventh grade at Foothills Arts Council. Explore your creativity through drawing, painting and mixed media. Space is limited to eight students.

Beginning Sewing with LeAnne Mantero

• 3-4 p.m. for third grade through adult at the Foothills Arts Council.

• Step-by-step skills in sewing and small projects made. Space is limited to six students. Supply list provided.

Exploring Creativity with Judy Nance

• 3:15-4:15 p.m. for kinder­garten through seventh grade at the Foothills Arts Council. Expand your creativity with writing, telling stories, drawing and moving and reading to music. Limited to eight students.

Thursdays

Art Everyday with Gladys Morrison

• 2:30-3:30 p.m. for K - 6th grade at Elkin Elementary. Enjoy and use art as an everyday expression through a variety of avenues — drawing, writing, dramatic readings, etc.

Art Exploration with Alisha Merritt

• 2:30-3:30 p.m. for fourth through sixth grade at Elkin Elementary. Emphasis on drawing and watercolor.
