BOONVILLE — Starmount’s baseball team pounded out a 10-0 win over visiting Alleghany on Tuesday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

The Rams struck early, plating four runs in the first inning and four more in the bottom of the second. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Jake Barr and Dillon Dobson paced a nine-hit attack. Each hit triples. Connor Vanhoy earned the win from the mound for the Rams (2-5, 2-4 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference).

Alex Barr pitched a scoreless fifth inning, with brother Jake being the other half of the battery.

The Rams are scheduled to host Surry Central in a non-conference contest today (Wednesday). Friday brings a road trip to East Wilkes.
