A Sunday afternoon wreck on Roaring Gap Church Road in Wilkes County took the life of Joey Ray Anderson, 33, of 1164 Spicer Road, Roaring River.
The wreck occurred at approximately 2 p.m. According to N. C. Highway patrol officials, Anderson was traveling approximately 10 miles-an-hour below the speed limit when the accident occurred.
“He had a seizure which lead to a brain aneurysm,” Joann Anderson his mother said. “The aneurysm resulted in him blacking out and that’s when the wreck occurred. Joey’s neck was broken and he passed away during the wreck.”
“We’re all just devastated,” his mother said.
The initial report was that Anderson was treated at the scene and transferred to Hugh Chatham Memorial.
“Joey was gone when the ambulance arrived,” she said. “The saddest thing is for Danny, his son.”
Anderson left behind fiance’, Beverly Smith and a one-year-old son, Danny along with his mother, brother Steven from Roaring River and a sister, Crystal, from Wilkesboro.
