BOONVILLE-  Mrs. Mina Lee Wagoner Simmons, 79, of Simmons-Patton Road, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at her home. 

She was born Aug. 20, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late George D. and Ollie Weatherman Wagoner. 

Mrs. Simmons loved playing basketball for, and was a graduate of, West Yadkin High School Class of 1950. 

She retired from Hanes Knitting with 40 years of service and was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Scottie Ray Wagoner Swaim. 

Surviving are her beloved husband of 57 years, Delmer Simmons of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Iannotte of Jonesville; two granddaughters, Ashley Lee Iannotte and Lauren Gabriella Iannotte; two brothers, Harvey D. “Buck” Wagoner and wife, Rachel of Callahan, Fla. and Wilmouth Gray “Dick” Wagoner and wife, Kathelene of Boonville; brother-in-law, Guy Swaim; and her very close friend, Eunice Robbins. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Jan. 4, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. 

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Shady Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul Stewart and the Rev. Charles Jones. 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to either Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Shady Grove Baptist Church, Center Road, Boonville, NC  27011 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC  27055.
