William (Bill) Frederick Cosby, Jr., of State Road, was arrested Saturday, and charged with one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
The charges involve a male victim under the age of 16. This is the second arrest of Cosby stemming from an investigation that began in November when the Elkin Police Department was contacted by a 14-year-old victim reporting the allegations against Cosby.
Capt. Jeff Poteate of the Elkin Police Department confirmed that the charges were filed "as a result of an ongoing investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the EPD and the Surry County Sheriff's Office."
Poteate also confirmed that the charges involve a different victim under the age of 16.
Cosby was transported to the Surry County Magistrate's Office in Dobson, where he was released by the Magistrate's Office on a written promise to appear for the felony charge.
"A written promise is just a paper saying that he will appear in court to answer to the charges," Poteate said.
Cosby was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with statutory sex offense with a 14-year-old and solicitation of a child by computer to commit a sex act, both felonies.
He was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond.
Cosby allegedly gained access to the first victim through the cell phone business where he was part-owner of at the time.
"It is an ongoing investigation," Poteate said. He made no further comment on the investigation.
Cosby's court date is set for Jan. 12, 2010 in District Court in Dobson.
