Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation held a banquet for its latest leadership program graduating class Thursday night at the lodge located at Grassy Creek Vineyards. The event was catered by the hospital.

The leadership class is a once-a-month program where local people are nominated to participate in learning the ins-and-outs of the hospital's available programs, departments and commitments to the community.

The classes are led by the heads of each department and administrative staff.

Jeannette Hendrick, Director of Development/Executive Director of HCMH Foundation, proposed the program to the foundation board, hospital directors and trustees four years ago as a way to involve the community and promote the services available to residents of the area.

"This is our fourth graduating class," Hendrick said. "It has been very successful and we are fortunate to have so many willing to be ambassadors for the hospital."

The graduating class members were Dr. Randy Bledsoe, Debbie Brown, Freddie Brown, Bill Bruce, Lynn Burcham, Jim Cockerham, Louise Cockerham, Terry Darnell, Linda Davis, Barbara Gregory, Tom Gwyn, Laura Gwyn, Lestine Hutchens, Lynn Kennedy, Terry Kennedy, Bill Long, Misty Matthews, Paul McCauley, Jed Metts, Zetta Parks and Ralph Williams.

Each participant was presented with a framed certificate.

Foundation Chairman, Dr. Jim Harrell, Sr., Interim CEO, Stuart Poston, and Trustee Chairman, Mike Stanley thanked the group for their participation, dedication, and willingness to be community ambassadors.

At the end of the certificate presentation, Stanley and Harrell presented Hendrick with a plaque recognizing her dedication and work to the Foundation and the hospital.

"It is an honor to have Jeanette working with the foundation," Harrell said. "She is a hard worker and strives to make the area aware of the quality medical care they can expect to receive with the hospital. We wanted to recognize her commitment and thank her for all she does."

The next leadership class begins in January, with monthly meetings through next December.
