THURMOND — Harold Leff Wood, age 69, of W. Tate Drive in Thurmond, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Harold was born in Surry County on Dec. 20, 1939 to the late Paul and Mary Brooks Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wood of the home; step children, Wayne Forester and wife, Elaine, of St. Peters, Mo., Mary Forester of St. Louis, Mo., Diane Forester of Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael Forester of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Bobby Eugene Wood and Kelly C. Wood and wife, Brenda, all of State Road; sisters, Maxine Reynolds of State Road, and Pauline Reynolds and husband, Oscar, of Greensboro; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 29, at Johnson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Norman. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at the Wood family cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to the donor’s choice.
