Widow of Barney Claude Harris, she was born on Dec. 2, 1930 in Wilkes County to Solomon Iredell and Sally Ann Wood Hincher.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father; one sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by her mother of Heritage Healthcare of Elkin; two sisters, Martha (Denver) Hayes, of Hays and Dorothy Barker of Elkin; a brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Harris of Thurmond; three children, a daughter, Shirley Ford Sparks and husband, Richard, of State Road; and sons, Dale (Dian) Harris and Ricky (Linda) Harris, both of Thurmond; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Johnson Funeral Home.
Her funeral service followed, officiated by the Rev. Garry Tatum, the Rev. John A. Harold and the Rev. Brett Graham. Burial was at Union Hill Baptist Church.
Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is serving the Harris family.
