SPARTA- Sophia Peele Estep, age 61, of Antioch Road in Sparta, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta.

She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Nell Jones Peele.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Estep of the home; three daughters, Connie Bowman Collins of Mt. Airy, Penny Lee Bowman of Elkin, and Tina Ann Whitlow of Winston-Salem; a step son, Robert Estep Jr. of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Phyllis Newman of Rural Hall, Juanita Tise of East Bend, and Deborah Phillips and Cindy Mueller of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Wayne Peele of Ramsey, Ind., Clayton Peele of Mocksville, and Alex Nichols of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in the Stratford Community near Sparta.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta.
