The Friendship Motor Speedway racing season reached week 20 this past weekend.
The track held smooth from top to bottom, as drivers competed in all five regular divisions.
Kenny Peoples of Rural Retreat (Va.) got to the track late but made up for it once the racing started in the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Model feature. He won the pole and held off Brian Carswell for victory in the 30-lap race.
Chris Cheek placed third, followed by Winky McGee and Andrew Durham. Kent Peckham held on to his points lead despite not placing in the top five.
Brian Nance of Ronda passed Richard Clew late in the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race to earn the victory. Clew held off points leader Jeff Parsons for second place. Shawn Robinson and Daniel Moss rounded out the top five.
Tommy Zachary of Yadkinville had his machine dialed in this week, racing to a win in the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinder division. Zachary topped Chris Hudspeth for first. Points leader Billy Robbins was third, followed by Junior Welborn and Toby Jones.
Derek Mastin put his machine in victory lane for the third week in a row in the JC Racing and Fabrication Renegade V-8 division. James Allison placed second, followed by Tony Parsons, Fabian Anderson and points leader Jeff Parsons.
Matthew Nance won his third race in a row in the Hill Top Trading Post Donald’s Automotive U-Car feature. He outdueled Brett Myers for the No. 1 spot, with the pair running side-by-side for the last half of the race. The two bumped a few times, with the last bump sending Myers into third place for the night.
Todd Faircloth was second. Travis Turner earned fourth, with Maggie Stokes in fifth.
Friendship will hold its 21st week of racing this Saturday. There will be a special Carolina Clash Super Late Models event, with a whopping $5,000 to win prize up for grabs. Racing also will take place in the Limited Sportsman, Four Cylinders, Renegade V-8s and U-Cars.
