He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Sexton.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Wood Sexton of the home; a son, Steven Toliver Sexton of the home; a daughter, Lisa Sexton and fiance', Jerome Watson, of Elkin; brothers, David Sexton of Wilkesboro, Bill Sexton and wife, Patty, of Hays, and Dennis Sexton and wife, Joan, of Mountain Park; sisters, Doris Sparks and husband, Troy, of Jonesville and Carolene Wagoner and husband, Frank, of Elkin; and two special grandchildren, Brittany Hilton and Dante Watson.
His funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Mulberry Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today, Aug. 31, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
