Lowe has been selected to serve as the campaign's Vice Chairman for Solicitation. In this role, he will provide leadership to the various committees working within the community to help the Hospital's campaign reach its goal of $4 million. In announcing Lowe, Chairman Harrell said, “I am very pleased that J.L. has agreed to join this important effort. His leadership experience within the community is well known and most respected. We could not have chosen anyone better for this role.” Lowe, a retired executive of Chatham Manufacturing Company, has long served the Elkin Community in many other volunteer positions. Currently, he is a member of the Hospital's Board of Trustees and has served as its chairman on several occasions. He also is a commissioner of the Town of Elkin, where he has served for twelve years, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkin.
In noting his appointment to the Sharing the Vision Campaign, J.L said, “When Jim Harrell asks you to support a cause, you feel honored. You know it is a needed project and you know it will be successful.”
Under J.L. Lowe’s tenure as Hospital Board Chairman, among his many accomplishments, the Hospital received the Alliant Management Group’s ‘Best in overall Performance’ award, substantially raised its patient satisfaction scores, and embarked on its most expansive construction project in its history.
The Sharing the Vision campaign is the largest capital campaign in the history of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
The campaign is intended to support the Hospital’s current construction project to bring a new Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Patient Bed Tower to our health care community.
To date, the campaign is 54 percent towards its goal of $4 million.
