Get ready for football at East Wilkes
The seventh annual East Wilkes High School youth football camp will be held July 27-29 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the high school football field.
The camp is open to players ages 8-14. The three-day clinic is designed to prepare for kids for Sertoma football. All Sertoma players are encouraged to attend.
The cost is $50. Players are encouraged to pre-register. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. There will be contests and prizes each night. The camp will culminate with a pizza party on July 29.

Youth hoops camp at East Wilkes
The 2009 Cardinal Basketball Camp will be held at East Wilkes High School on June 22-25.
The camp is open to boys who will be in grades 3-8 in 2009-10. Sessions will run from 8 a.m. until noon each day in the high school gym.
Each camper will receive a T-shirt. Lunch will be provided on Thursday, June 25. Prizes will be awarded daily.

The Surry County Sports Hall of Fame is accepting applications for future members.
Hall of Fame nominations recognize individuals for outstanding achievement in the field of athletics as a player, coach or administrator. Ring of Honor nominations recognize individuals, teams, corporations or companies that have made a significant impact on the local sports scene.

Get signed up for Elkin summer activities
The Elkin Recreation Center is currently registering for the following summer activities:
• Soccer camp: A one-week clinic for ages 8-14 will be held July 13-17
• Tennis lessons: Morning and evening classes are available for ages 5-12. Classes start June 2 and will run all summer long.
• Swim lessons: Sessions for ages 3 to adult will start June 15 and run all summer long. Morning and evening classes are available.
• Elkin Wet Lightning swim team: Open to ages 5-18. The registration deadline is May 31.
• Summer day camp: Open to children ages 5-12.
• Boys basketball camp: Open to rising fourth- through 12th-graders.

Starmount holding sports banquet
Starmount High's winter and spring sports banquet will be held June 1, with the meal starting at 6 p.m.
The banquet is free for all winter and spring athletes and $3 for family members. This also will be the day for the end-of-year athletic awards.
East Wilkes Sertoma football sign-ups
Registration for the upcoming East Wilkes Sertoma football season will be June 2 at East Wilkes Middle School, from 4-6 p.m.
First year players need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. All players should bring their proof of physical forms.
The cost of players in grades 3-6 is $35. There is no cost for grades 7-8, since they will play on the middle school team.
Men's softball tourney in Yadkinville
A USSSA Class C & D men's softball tournament will be held Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 at the Yadkinville Park.
The deadline to enter is June 9. The cost is $150 per team.

East Wilkes youth baseball camp
The eighth-annual East Wilkes High School youth baseball camp will be held June 17-19.
The clinic is open to rising fourth- through eighth-graders. Sessions will run from 8 a.m. until noon at the East Wilkes High baseball field. Campers will play in groups based on their grade level.
The cost is $40 for those who pre-register. Campers who sign up on the first day of the camp will pay $50.
The camp will focus on baseball fundamentals. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. There will be competitions and prizes during the week.

A second registration day for Boonville Sertoma football will be held Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boonville gym.

Yadkin Stingrays looking for swimmers
The Yadkin Stingrays will have summer swim team sign-ups from May 18 through June 11 from 5-7 p.m. at the Yadkin County pool (behind the YMCA on Service Road).
The team is open to school-aged kids 18-and-younger. If you're 10-and-under, you must be able to swim at least one lap of the pool. If you're between 11-18, you must be able to swim at least two laps.
The cost is $50 per child ($45 for each additional sibling in a family). There will be a Swim Gear representative at the pool on May 28 at 5 p.m. for swim suit orders.
