It has been a pretty spectacular week on the field for the Elkin High girls soccer team.
Donning their blue jerseys for each of their three games away from the home pinks, Elkin won all three contest by a combined score of 15-0.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Elks traveled to Pilot Mountain to face the Cardinals of East Surry. Aided by a pair of goals from both Madi Spagnoletti and Emma White, the Elks topped the Cardinals 5-0 in a Northwest 1A match-up.
Kali Brooks also scored a goal and had two assists against the Cardinals. Rebekah Howard, Mary Tayloe and Spagnoletti logged assists as well.
The Elks outshot East Surry 13-0.
On Wednesday, the Lady Elks squared off in the girls soccer version of the “Battle of the Bridge” in Boonville. Elkin took the contest 6-0 against Starmount, on the heels of a two goal performance by Brooks.
Each of Brooks’ goals were scored single handedly, a streaking goal and penalty kick both coming in the second half. With an own goal by Starmount, White, Spagnoletti and Tayloe each contributed goals. White also logged two assists. The Lady Elks outshot the Rams by a 15-2 margin.
In the final contest of the week the Elks made the journey to Hays, for the second match-up against a Mountain Valley 2A squad in as many days, facing the North Wilkes Vikings.
Coach Joe McCulloch’s Lady Elks made quick work of the Vikings and cruised to the 4-0 victory.
Brooks started the scoring for the Elks just 50 seconds into the game on a break-away goal.
From there though, Spagnoletti notched a hat-trick for the Elks. Netting assists from Kassi Womeldorf, White and Tayloe, the Lady Elks improved to 12-0 on the season to maintain a firm grasp on the state’s No. 1 ranking.
