BOONVILLE - Starmount lost two of three games in a triple-header with Alleghany Thursday and Friday night in Boonville.
The Rams were swept on the diamond, while the Lady Rams won their first game of the season on the soccer pitch.
In baseball, Starmount ran into Trojan senior Taylor Post on the mound.
Post threw a complete-game gem to lead Alleghany to the hard-fought 4-2 victory. The senior scattered four hits over seven strong innings, while allowing just two earned runs.
After falling behind 4-0 after the fifth inning, the Rams made a late charge in the home-half of the fifth.
Starmount plated a pair of runs in the frame, helped by five walks by Post to cut the deficit in half. But were unable to overcome the early deficit, falling 4-2.
The defeat pushed the Rams’ losing streak to five games, dropping their record to 1-7 on the year and 1-5 in the Mountain Valley Conference.
In soccer, Starmount tripled its scoring out-put in the season in the game. After only scoring twice in their first six contests, the Lady Rams struck for six goals en route to a comfortable 6-2 victory.
The win ended a six-game slide for Starmount to open the year.
In softball, Starmount dropped its second-straight game, falling to the Trojans 7-4.
The Lady Rams fell to 1-5 on the season with the loss.
Starmount’s baseball and softball squads return to the field Tuesday against East Wilkes, while the Lady Rams battle North Surry Wednesday night.
