The Upper Yadkin Valley Habitat for Humanity will be hosting the Habitat Hammer 5K through the Elkin Municipal Park. The walk/run will be held Apr. 27, but registration ends Mar. 31.
The 5K is a fundraiser to benefit the homeless of Surry and Yadkin County. The run will begin inside the park on the gravel track and run through downtown Elkin past the Habitat ReStore building. The route then leads up West Main Street before returning to the park. Awards will be given to the top three overall men, top three overall women, top three master men, top three master women, and the top 3 men and women finishers in each five-year age group. Awards and door prizes will be given away at the bandshell in the park. Goody bags will also be distributed.
Participants are encouraged to sign up early to reserve a spot. Those interested can fill out the registration form online at active.com or by downloading a form from uyvhabitat.org and turning it in to the Habitat ReStore building at 102 East Market Street, Elkin. Forms may also be mailed in at P.O. Box 581, Elkin NC 28621.
