“To Everything there is a Season”


Hazel Elizabeth Saylor‘s Season ended February 12, 2013. She was born on September 1, 1925 in Surry County. She was the widow of James A. Saylor who died in 1983. She lived most of her life in Surry County. She moved to Asheville in the early 90’s to be with her beloved son, Joe Henry Saylor. He went to heaven in 2004 at which time she moved back to Elkin. She was the last survivor of her family. In addition to her parents she lost 2 sisters, three brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church. She and her husband joined in 1952.


Survivors are a very special niece, Reeceanna and Johnny Hanes; nephew Randy and Susan Bowers. Her beloved church family and special angels, Nancy Sloop, Rachel Long, Mildred Anderson, John Flore of Dayton Ohio, and Patrick Woodie of Raleigh and Alleghany County. Too many much loved friends to name and her church family brought much joy to her with their love and prayers.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m, Friday, February 15, 2013 at Elkin Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. Stuart Taylor III officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hollywood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
