Were I a psychiatrist, I would be fearful that my violent patients would avoid me, for fear that I would report them to the authorities. If I do squeal to the Government, I will have violated my confidentiality beliefs. If I don’t notify the ‘authorities’, would I be subject to fines or lawsuits or worse? Is America beginning to sound like George Orwell’s ‘1984’?
