STATESVILLE - While Elkin’s dream of a state title ended in the second round, one former Elk was living out his championship aspiration Saturday night in Raleigh.

Eythan Kramm, a former standout on Elkin’s football and baseball teams, is now a star on 2A powerhouse South Iredell.

Kramm and the Vikings celebrated the 2AA State Championship Saturday night after knocking off previously unbeaten Carrboro 30-27 at Carter-Finley Stadium on the campus of NC State.

The senior called the whole championship experience “unbelievable.”

Kramm finished the season with 155 tackles (106 solo, 49 assisted), which included eight games of 10+ stops, with a game-high 16 tackles against West Caldwell and East Burke. He added three sacks, five interceptions, one forced fumble and a blocked field goal on defense.

Kramm was also the Vikings’ third-leading rusher with 484 rushing yards on 106 carries (4.6 yards per carry) on the season with 15 total touchdowns (12 rushing, three receiving).

South Iredell finished the season with a 14-2 mark and captured the school’s first state championship.
