ALLEGHANY COUNTY, N.C. - One person died and eight others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 18 in Alleghany County on Sunday.
Emergency workers told WXII 12 News that two one-gallon containers of pesticide ruptured when a van overturned on the right side of the road.
An Alleghany Memorial Hospital spokesperson said several people were brought in to be decontaminated. Emergency workers said four people were airlifted to hospitals.
EMS workers were unsure how many were taken to Alleghany Memorial Hospital and how many were taken elsewhere to be treated and decontaminated.
