Mrs. Marion was born in Surry County on Jan. 13, 1914 to the late George Thomas and Lettie White Ball.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she was a homemaker and a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church, as long as her health permitted.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth “Pete” Moser of Dobson and Peggy and Dub Golding of Lowgap; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Effie Marion of Mount Airy and Ronnie Marion of Cana, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Grace Ball, Laverne Snow, Dorothy Mitchell and Gladys Hawks; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Nixon; and two special friends, Jewel White and Lorene Hudson.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Ray Marion.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 13 at Salem Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Hiatt, the Rev. Bobby Lewis and the Rev. Darrell Tate with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family received Thursday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home and other times at the homes of her children.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Central Continuing Care, especially to Linda, Freda and Martha for their love and care.
