Greensboro – Mr. Richard James Pinnix, 84, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.


Mr. Pinnix services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Martin Avenue Baptist Church of which he was a member with the Dr. James Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.


Richard was born on February 7, 1928 to the late Banner and Alice Sparks Pinnix of Wilkes County. He was retired from P. Lorillard and a U.S. Army veteran.


He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Pinnix, sisters, Rosie Boyd and Ethel Carter, brothers, Fred, Frank and Wavelyn Pinnix.


He is survived by his wife, Odene Lewis Pinnix of the home; children, Rickie Ann Toye and husband Rob of Clemmons, Bruce Pinnix and wife Sherree of Greensboro, Wayne Pinnix and wife Marcy of Gibsonville and Terry Pinnix and wife Heather of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; sisters, Ona Baker of Hagerstown, Maryland, Viola Pinnix and Josephine Luffeman both of Elkin; brothers, Dennis Pinnix of Greensboro; grandchildren, Julie Lowery, Cameron Pinnix, Courtney Shaffer, Houston, Banner and Harrison Pinnix; Hanna and Eric Pinnix and 7 Great grandchildren.


The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
