Dixie Lee Tucker Swaim, 77, of Shoaly Branch Church Road, Elkin, died Sept. 29, 2012, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.


She was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Wilkes County to the late Carl and Ethel Casey Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Homer Dawson Swaim; and one brother, R.J. Tucker.


Mrs. Swaim was a beloved homemaker and a attended Shoaly Branch Baptist Church.


Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Swaim ( Nancy) of Outer Banks, NC and Lonnie Swaim ( Carol) of State Road, NC; one daughter, Lee Orange (Keith Greene), of Lenoir; one brother, Harry Tucker ( Donna) of Elkin; six grandchildren, Ronnie Swaim Jr. , Michael Swaim, Johnny Swaim , Billy Orange, Lori Laws ( Jerry), and Jake Orange ( Dean Philyaw); eight great-grandchildren, Dawson , Ashton , Savannah , Breanna , Kim , Kayla , Mikey and Amber .


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Kenny Wood. Interment will follow at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery.


The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.


Serving as pallbearers will be: Ronnie Swaim, Jr., Johnny Swaim, Billy Orange, Jake Orange, Jerry Laws and Dean Philyaw.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to: Shoaley Branch Baptist Church, 472 Shoaley Branch Church Rd., Elkin NC 28621 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge St. Elkin N.C. 28621
