Jonathan Bryce Hamlin, of State Road, North Carolina, has earned the highest advancement Award that America offers to Scouts, The Eagle Scout Award.
Hamlin was recognized in a ceremony held at Raven Knob Boy Scout camp in North Carolina, on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.
Jonathan Bryce Hamlin is the son of Jon and Connie Hamlin of State Road, N.C. His sister is Cristine Hamlin-Andrews, brother- in-law Cody Andrews and niece, Chloe Mae Andrews who reside in Elkin, NC.
A member of Troop #644, “Hamlin is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank”, according to Scoutmaster, Mr. Terry Church.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or Synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle, Hamlin chose to landscape the courtyard of C.B.
Eller Elementary School. This is the elementary school Jonathan attended, so this project held special meaning for him.
He has served as senior patrol leader and received other scouting honors such as Order of Arrow brotherhood. Hamlin joins other outstanding American citizens who have become Eagle Scouts, among them former President Gerald R. Ford, Jr., Neil A. Armstrong, cinematographer Steven Spielberg, and the head of the F. B. I., William Sessions.
Jonathan is a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and is a 2012 graduate of East Wilkes High School. He attends Wilkes Community College, and wants to major in Architecture and Landscape Design.
