A tractor trailer traveling from Independence Lumber Company in Virginia to Boonville disrupted traffic for three and a half hours on Tuesday, said Jonesville Police Chief Roger Reece.

“The truck was coming off of Interstate 77 onto Highway 67 in Boonville with a load of lumber. There was a mechanical malfunction and the lumber overturned off of the truck,” Reece said. “We had to divert traffic around the accident.”

The accident happened around 10:40 a.m. and no one was injured, Reece said.

“It happened right around the on and off ramps for the interstate, so a lot of traffic was held up,” he said.

A little diesel fuel leaked from the truck, but Southland Transportation Co. in Boonville helped contain the fuel at the scene, Reece said.

Arlington Fire and Rescue and Jonesville Police Department responded to the accident.
