Burley Franklin Carter

Mr. Burley Franklin Carter, 79, of Rockford Road passed away peacefully at his home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late John and Mamie Sales Carter.

Mr. Carter was retired from Unifi Inc. and a faithful member of Clark's Memorial Baptist Church.

He was a dedicated member of the South Surry Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Earnestine Dobson Carter, on May 31, 2002; a daughter-in-law, Renee Carter; four brothers, Ernest, John, Grady and Paul Carter, and two sisters, Florence Porter and Hallie William.

Surviving are his beloved children, Pete Franklin Carter, and friend, Sonya of Ararat; Alice Blake Martinez and friend, Willie of Mount Airy; Kathleen Priscilla Terry, and friend Bruce of Dobson; grandchildren, Crystal Lopez, Burley Butcher, Lewis Butcher, Pete Carter, Jr., Siovon Butcher, Tiffany Carter, John Carter, Lorenzo Terry, Sierra Escobar, Adrianna Terry, Jesus Martinez, and Marcus Calderon; 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Lillian Satterfield.

His funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2 p.m. at Clark's Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Hairston.

Mr. Carter will lie in state from 1 - 2 p.m. on Thursday before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family received friends on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
