The Carolina Clash Super Late Model series made a stop at Friendship Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
No one could stop Ricky Weeks from taking his second Carolina Clash victory in as many tries. The Rutherfordton driver set the tone early by nabbing the fast-time award from Oakwood Homes of North Wilkesboro during qualifying.
Weeks then held off several charges by other competitors once the racing began to earn the victory, keeping his overall points lead in the Carolina Clash series.
Benji Cole of Cannon, Ga., enjoyed a strong run to nab second place, followed by Randle Chupp of Troutman, S.C. in third. Luke Roffers and Ed Gibbons rounded out the top five.
Friendship ran three of its regular divisions on Saturday.
Noel Tucker won the pole in the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Model event, then charged to victory lane for the fifth time this season. Robby Stevens held on to second place, with recent winner Mitchell Coble coming home in third.
Keith Holder and Tony Hicks rounded out the top five. Jonathan Davenport earned sixth in his Friendship debut. Coble, Holder, Hicks and Davenport all moved up on spot, however, when a post-race inspection resulted in Stevens being disqualified for using soft tires.
Holder has a narrow 2-point lead over Hicks in the points standings following Saturday's action. Chris Cheek, who didn't finish Saturday because of mechanical problems, still lurks in third place, 12 points behind Holder.
Jeff Parsons led most of the way in the Super Street feature after starting on the first row. But Andy Mathis slipped in front of him on a restart after a caution with just a few laps to go. Parsons couldn't catch him, and Mathis enjoyed his first win of the season.
Points leader Daniel Moss, who started on the pole, finished third. Jimmy Watson earned fourth place.
Billy Robbins and Robbie Brown, the leaders of the Coffee House Four Cylinder points chase, traded between first and second during most of Saturday's feature. Brown eventually earned the win -- his third of the season -- to pull out to a 384-380 lead over Robbins in the standings.
Sandy Martin, third in the points race, was third overall Saturday. Jerry Cook took fourth, while Luke Golding earned fifth.
All four of Friendship's regular divisions will be in action this Saturday -- the Late Models, Super Streets, Four Cylinders and Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Cars.
The Late Models will compete for a special $1,500 prize to the winner. Finishing positions will be worth double points this week.
