According to owner Theo Kakouras, intruders shattered a glass door in the front of the restaurant and attempted to steal the cash register from the front counter. Kakouras just happened to be in the restaurant earlier than usual and heard the intrusion.
After smashing the window, the would-be burglars came in and lifted the cash register onto the counter, but Kakouras had already emptied its contents.
Jonesville police responded to the 911 call within minutes but did not find any evidence. Kakouras said the restaurant had its kitchen lights turned on while the dining room lights remained off.
"They may have thought that looked normal,'" he said. "But they should have seen that my truck was parked right in the front of the building."
