The Falcons outscored the Wildcats 10-4 in the first quarter and 32-16 in the opening half en route to a 56-46 triumph.
Jade Burkeen and Jessica Kite led a balanced scoresheet for the Falcons (4-6), scoring 12 points apiece. Hannah Lineberry added nine points for Forbush, with Katelynd Caudle and Leslie Long netted six apiece.
West Stokes outscored Forbush 14-10 in the third period and 16-14 in the final stanza, but the Falcons' cushion was too great to overcome. Jessica Brown had 23 points to lead West Stokes on offense.
The boys game was a bit of a reversal of the girls action. West Stokes raced out to an early lead and held the Falcons off 66-50. The Wildcats outscored the Falcons 21-8 in the first quarter and 13-8 in the second.
While Forbush played the 'Cats even for much of the second half, the damage had been done. Coach Marty Sewell's team never could get its deficit back under 10 points.
Matthew Zachary and Matthew Smitherman were the only Forbush players in double figures, netting 13 and 11 points respectively. Kerry Norman added eight.
Both Forbush teams are in action this week at The Record & Landmark Tournament in Statesville. The tourney began Wednesday and will continue today and Friday.
Wednesday's games finished after press time for this issue.
