The Lady Cardinals did their work on the road this time, beating North Wilkes 49-30 in a Monday night non-conference showdown. East beat North Wilkes at home 53-12 late last month.
The latest victory kept East Wilkes undefeated at 5-0.
Coach Billy Brown's team used a stellar first half to take command. The Cardinals led 13-6 after one period and took a 23-8 advantage into halftime.
Senior guard Jessie Elmore (15 points) and junior forward Lauren Royal (12 points) paced the Cards' against the Vikings. Elmore swished a pair of three-pointers, dished out a team-high four assists, grabbed three rebounds and made two steals. Royal had a pair of assists and two steals.
Anna Litschke and Jaclyn Grit led a balanced supporting cast, scoring five points each. Kendra Green, Taylor Jolly and Makayla Sales scored four points apiece. Sales was the top rebounder with seven.
Anna Hayes didn't score but had four steals and an assist.
Coach Brown said he was impressed with the play of North Wilkes forward Carly Noble, who led the Vikes with 16 points. North Wilkes dropped to 0-5
In boys action, East Wilkes lost to North Wilkes 49-31 on Monday.
East was within just a few points of the Vikings until the fourth quarter. But the Vikes stepped on the gas pedal down the stretch, outscoring their guests 15-1 to close out the game. Chris Vannoy led East in that contst with nine points. Graylan Tharpe scored seven, while Ben Gregory and Micah Bryan added six apiece.
East Wilkes teams will return to conference action this Friday night, hosting Bishop McGuinness. The Cardinals will play Alleghany, Mount Airy and Elkin next week -- all Northwest 1A contests.
