The contest was moved out of respect for the North Stokes High community, which is mourning the death of 16-year-old junior Sonia Renee Luster of Westfield, who was killed in an automobile wreck Friday morning.
East Wilkes will take a 1-3 overall record and 0-1 conference mark into tonight's contest. The Vikings also are 1-3, 0-1.
The Cardinals and Vikes are plenty familiar with another. They've played twice the past couple of seasons, including last fall when North won in September and East captured a second-round state playoff triumph in November. North Wilkes beat East Wilkes in the 2006 playoffs after losing to the Cardinals during the regular season.
Both teams are coming off shutout losses on Sept. 12. East Wilkes lost its Northwest 1A opener at East Surry 31-0, while North Stokes was beaten 47-0 by Elkin.
Neither team will have much time to rest following the game. Both are slated to play Friday night, with East Wilkes traveling to Bishop McGuinness and North Stokes hosting county rival South Stokes.
