Friendship Motor Speedway announcer Jason Atkins has officially accepted the position of promoter at the Elkin dirt track.

Atkins brings years of sales, marketing and experience in the racing industry to the job.

"I am thoroughly excited about having the opportunity to represent Friendship Motor Speedway," Atkins said recently. "Dirt track racing has been a passion of mine for many years and it was Friendship who, over eight years ago, gave me my first opportunity. I am indebted to my supportive family and many of you whom I have met along the way.

Atkins said he looks forward to dealing with drivers and fans alike to continue the tradition of exciting racing action in the area. FMS went back to dirt for the 2008 season after being an asphalt track for a few years.

"Friendship has a wonderful family of talented drivers, loyal fans and supportive community partners," he said. "I look forward to working with all of you as we strive to make Friendship Speedway an elite racing facility. Thanks to all of you that have faithfully supported us, we are well on our way.

"Stay tuned as we are already working on bigger and better ideas for both the drivers and the fans. In other speedway news, Jerry Farley has assumed the role of Race Director.
