Verona Key Hamby, age 93, of Old Hwy 21, passed away Thursday June 19, 2008 at the home of her daughter Nancy Hinson. Mrs. Hamby was born March 19, 1915 in Surry County to Ransom and Ida Lowe Key.

Mrs. Hamby was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Tom B. Hamby and two brothers, Herman Key and Leonard Key.

Survivors include; A son, John Hamby of State Road. A daughter Nancy Hinson of State Road. Four brothers, Rueben Key of McLeansville, Kenneth Key and John Key of Greensboro, Conrad Key of Pleasant Garden. A sister, Minnie Jackson of Gibsonville. A granddaughter, Pam Carroll, four great grandchildren, Melissa Schrock, Jamie Schrock, Lesley Carroll, Matthew Carroll. Two great grandchildren, Zoe Deskins and Riley Schrock.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 22, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Wood and Rev. Steve Kramm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 until 3 pm at the Church. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
