The leaking waterline was reported by neighborhood residents who noticed a decrease in water pressure.
Public Works Director Kevin Wilson said the age of the main and type of material may have played a part in the outage. "Sometimes the dry weather causes the dirt to shift around the pipe causing a leak, he said.
Residents from Ivy Circle to Brookwood were without water for two to three hours.
