Anyone interested in taking part in being a "River Hero" can bring a riverboat, canoe or kayak and help clean up the water.
Starting at Roaring River Canoe west of Ronda, volunteers will divide and conquer the environmentally motivated task. The local cleanup is part of the larger National River Cleanup weekend.
Area sponsors are the Elkin River Rats, Roaring River Canoe Rentals, Yadkin Pee Dee River Trail Association, and the Yadkin Riverkeepers.
