One person is dead and a youth injured following a collision this morning between a motorcycle and a transfer truck.
No identities had been released publicly, and emergency workers remained on the scene at noon cleaning up and investigating the crash.
The accident occurred about a mile and a half north of Traphill Road along U.S. 21 on the side of the mountain in Wilkes County. No further details were available as the investigation continues.
Surry and Wilkes County ambulances were on the scene along with State Road Fire Department and the Highway Patrol. Austin firefighters set up a landing zone at Traphill Road and U.S. 21 for the AirCare air ambulance to pick up one victim for transport to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
